LEADING A.K.A. SCIENCE CLASSES

You don't have to be a science whiz to teach A.K.A. Science! School teachers, after school providers and community volunteers have all lead A.K.A. Science classes. The support and training you receive from OHCC will enable you to provide students with a great learning experience. Click here for Class Leader expectations and information on how to apply.

Before you lead an A.K.A. Science class, you will attend training in our progressive, informal teaching methods. (New Leader Training & Materials Training required for A.K.A. Science Leaders new to the program. Veteran Class Leaders need ONLY attend the Materials Training). At training, you will receive a clear and detailed lesson plan for each class and a kit including all materials for the eight sessions. There is no scrambling to get supplies together! Everything you need is packed in your kit.

A.K.A. Science Class Leaders receive a stipend. If Class Leaders opt to forgo the stipend, it is used to scholarship low-income students in the program. Academic and professional development credit is available to those who would like to participate.

Thursday, April 1st, 2010 from 4:00 pm to 6:30 pm (Portland, James John Elementary School)
Friday, April 2nd, 2010 from 10:00 am to 12:30 pm at OHCC in Wilsonville
Saturday, April 3rd, 2010 from 10:00 am to 12:30 pm at OHCC in Wilsonville

Materials Training
Wednesday, March 31st, 2010 from 6:30 pm to 9:00 pm at OHCC in Wilsonville
