AmeriCorps A.K.A. Science Program Specialist
The AmeriCorps A.K.A. Science Program Specialist will collaborate to coordinate our after school science program for elementary school youth. This includes instructing A.K.A. Science to youth weekly and increasing area business partnerships for in-kind supply donations. Further, the Program Specialist will increase the pool of A.K.A. AmeriCorps HCOP 9th/10th Grade Program Coordinator
The HCOP 9th/10th Grade Program Coordinator (PC) will coordinate & deliver our health careers exploration & high school success program to 9th & 10th grade students at five Willamette Valley high schools. Program activities include after-school academic support workshops, academic advising, & field studies to colleges & health organizations. The PC will also recruit & support volunteer health professionals to share their career paths with youth. Additionally, the PC will collaborate with OHCC staff to coordinate and act as the Lead Mentor in our academic summer program for high school seniors. Chief Financial Officer
The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) will work 5-10 hours per week as either an hourly employee, or contractor and will be responsible for monthly and quarterly financial statements, overseeing agency accounting activities, maintaining and updating financial policies, and working with external auditors to prepare annual audits. Day-to-day accounting duties are provided by a staff bookkeeper. The successful candidate will hold a Bachelor’s degree in accounting, and be either a CPA or CPA candidate. Health Careers Opportunity Program Algebra Instructor
Instruct an intensive college-level algebra course in our summer academy for rising high school juniors. The Algebra Instructor will modify and deliver existing curriculum for this four-hour per week, six-week course. Applicants must have demonstrated work experience teaching Algebra (or a related subject area) in a community college or university setting. Science Adventure! Instructor at Boones Ferry
Duties Include: Lead a one-hour Science Adventure! class Monday through Thursday for two weeks (8 units) starting August 2nd. Class will run from 12:30 pm-1:30 pm.
Time Commitment: 2 hours each day (1 hour prep/clean-up time and 1 hour class time)
Requirements: We look for individuals who can be flexible with instructing multiple age groups and schedules. In addition, also be able to work effectively and independently in a non-traditional educational environment

A.K.A. Science Kit Building
This opportunity occurs three times per year and lasts about one week in October, January, and March. Volunteers from various organizations help assemble science kits for our after school science program.
Duties Include: Counting and sorting supplies, assembling kits, following directions from the Program Coordinator, and having fun!
Time Commitment: Hours are flexible; organizations can choose to serve anywhere from 3 to 20+ hours during the week.
Benefits: Organizations earn $10.00 per kit assembled; OHCC typically builds 75-80 kits per term.

A.K.A. Science Class Leaders
Duties Include: Lead a one-hour A.K.A. Science class one afternoon per week for eight weeks in a Portland area school. Attend a 5 hour training session held by OHCC.
Benefits: Class Leaders play an active role in fostering a love of science among school-aged children. Academic credit is offered through Portland State University or Pacific University. Professional Development Units are also available. $160 stipend available.
Requirements: We look for individuals who are passionate about science education. Prior experience working with school-aged children is highly preferred. A background in science is not necessary.
